Are you considering breast augmentation? Breast augmentation is a type of plastic surgery that involves using either fat transfer or implants to increase the shape and size of your breasts. There are a few different types of implants out there, so it is critical that you consult with a certified surgeon such as  Joel Aronowitz to complete this procedure.

Types of Breast Augmentation

There are two types of breast augmentation: fat transfer and breast implants. Within the two of these, there are various other options available depending on how you would like your breasts to feel and look. Also, it is worth noting that there are certain kinds of implants that are only approved by the FDA for certain age groups. This is why it is critical that you do your homework to familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of each option.

Saline Breast Implants

Saline breast implants contain saline water. If these implants were to rupture inside your breast, your body would soak up the saline and eliminate it.

Structured Saline Breast Implants

Structured saline breast implants contain clean saline salt water. They also consist of an inner form that aids in making the implant feel more organic.

Silicone Breast Implants

Silicone breast implants are created out of silicone gel. The gel may remain within the shell or discharge fluid into your breast if it were to rupture. If you make the decision to get silicone breast implants, you should schedule periodic appointments with your surgeon to ensure that the implants remain effective.

Form Stable Breast Implants

Form stable breast implants or gummy bear implants will maintain their shape if the shell were to rupture. They are also created out of thicker silicone gel and are also much more solid than traditional implants. However, form stable implants require you to have a longer incision in your skin.

Round Breast Implants

Round breast implants make your breast appear fuller. Round breast implants are entirely round, so they don’t really change the way your breasts look if they were to move out of place.

Smooth Breast Implants

These implants are probably the most flexible of all of the available breast implants. They also make the movement of your breasts appear more natural than other implants.

Textured Breast Implants

These implants produce scar tissue that actually attaches itself to the implant. This means that they are not as likely to rotate within your breast. While this is rare, breast cancer associated with anaplastic large-cell lymphoma occurs more commonly in those who have textured breast implants.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

With fat transfer breast augmentations, your plastic surgeon will perform liposuction to eliminate excess fat from one area of your body. That excess fat will then be injected into your breasts. This type of procedure is typically performed on those who are only looking for a small increase in the size of their breasts. In many cases, the surgeon will remove fat tissue from one of the areas:

Flanks
